Solo Flatpicking Guitar – Rolly Brown
Rolly Brown is a lifelong student of the guitar. Beginning in 1964, at age 15, he spent the next 16 years as a self-taught fingerstyle folk, blues, and ragtime guitarist. After winning the National Fingerpicking Championship in Winfield KS in 1980, Rolly got serious, and studied with several east coast jazz masters, including Joseph Federico and John Carlini. Starting in the mid-90s, he turned his attention to flatpicking, with an emphasis on swing and gypsy jazz. For the past 15 years, he has been a perennial favorite instructor at guitar seminars and camps, owing to his easy to understand, nuts and bolts approach to teaching the guitar. Rolly lives in rural Bucks County PA with his wife Janice and a couple Australian dogs, where he plays and teaches guitar, teaches T’ai Chi Ch’uan, and practices and teaches classical Chinese Acupuncture.
